Bacon hearts - do they really need an explanation?
These brown sugar bacon hearts are the key to a breakfast your valentine won’t forget!
- If you are using a fatty cut of bacon, trim the fat off of the strips so they can hold their shape. Save the scraps, you can throw them into soups, stir fries or an omelet.
- Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Cut your bacon strips in half and shape them into hearts on the baking sheet. Arrange them until you have formed the desired shape and then make sure that the strips of bacon are touching so they connect to each other as they cook.
- Sprinkle the bacon with brown sugar. The brown sugar will help caramelize the bacon, for an extra zing you could add a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat. Another delicious spin is a drizzle of maple syrup instead of the brown sugar and a touch of sriracha.
- Place the bacon hearts in the oven at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes. Check on them and rotate after 10 minutes.
